The Day It All Came Crashing Down on Me!

It was Christmas Day and I was rushing around. I can’t remember what it was, but I needed to grab something from my office desk.

Hurriedly, I pulled the drawer open, it got stuck, so I gave it a good tug. The next thing I knew, two of the legs gave way and my desk collapsed.

I froze. Both table legs had been shaky for months but I ignored it, promising myself I’d sort it out later but never did.

I tried to fix it there and then but failed. Determined to fix it myself, I tried several times in the coming days, but each attempt seemed to make things worse.

Frustrated and tired, I moved my office setup to various parts of the house. For seven months, I worked from three different rooms, constantly lugging my stuff around and hoping for a quiet spot where I wouldn’t be disturbed. It was exhausting and far from ideal.

With the deadline looming to record videos for my new parenting course, I needed my office back.

This time, I decided not to tackle it alone.

I made one call to a professional, who came at a convenient time and fixed my desk. Not only did he restore my office, but he also put up some shelves and completed other jobs around the house.

The result? A beautiful, functional space and a more organised home.

Reflecting on this, I wondered why I waited seven months to get help. And many months before it collapsed to just tighten the shaky legs. Why did I suffer in silence when a simple phone call could have made everything easier?

Sometimes, we push things off, thinking we can manage, forgetting that it’s better to seek help and take action sooner rather than later.

So don’t be like me, if you're facing a parenting challenge regarding your child’s behaviour, don’t wait.

The relief and joy on the other side are worth it.
